It all happened too suddenly. Too sudden for anyone to say their last goodbyes, or to utter a simple "i love you".

When i first found out, i questioned God why. I asked Him why he needed to take such a bright and cheerful girl away from this earth at such a young age. Then God answered me. He told me He wanted to bring her home.

At the wake yesterday, we gathered in a circle with her father to pray. Aware of the grief her father was going through and mindful not to instigate any further grief, I struggled to find every appropriate word to say. And then this verse occurred to me:

"For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." Philippians 1:21

Nothing can be more comforting than knowing that she is in heaven with our Lord now. This is not the end for her. It is just the beginning of an eternal life, an eternal life so magnificent that our finite minds can never fathom.

So let us stay strong as we leave our beloved sunshine in the safe arms of our Lord.

Packing up the dreams God planted
In the fertile soil of you
Can't believe the hopes He's granted
Means a chapter in your life is through
But we'll keep you close as always
It won't even seem you've gone
'Cause our hearts in big and small ways
Will keep the love that keeps us strong

And friends are friends forever
If the Lord's the Lord of them
And a friend will not say "never"
'Cause the welcome will not end
Though it's hard to let you go
In the Father's hands we know
That a lifetime's not too long to live as friends.

We love you, Wei Qi.
